Welcome to the LIIIIVE blog of the week 4 results. Yeah, okay, its tape delayed because I’m on the West Coast. Sue me! Anyway, on tap tonight we have Ne-yo, another round of the junior dancers, and flamenco is the featured style for the Macy’s Stars of Dance Segment. We begin, as usual, with a lengthy recap of the show from last night, and then Lance and Lacey are announced as our encore dance. REALLY? I thought it should have been Brooke and Derek, but hey, what do I know? Apparently not as much as the judges, and at least Lance isn’t so heavily made up tonight! After the encore, there is a political campaign spoof from Brooke about Cody. I’m sure these will continue throughout the show, but I’m not amused. I have had enough of the actual campaign commercials, I don’t want to see a spoof during the show!
Whoo hoo! Man candy, dancing flamenco. In open coats! It’s like Riverdance, but hotter. Seriously, though, it was very entertaining, and I really appreciate the chance to see different forms of dance here on Dancing with the Stars. This piece is, of course, followed by ANOTHER recap. Do they think we have Alzheimer’s or something? Ok, our first two safe couples are Susan and Tony (whoo hoo!) and Lance and Lacey (again, whoo hoo!). Our first couple in the bottom two is Rocco and Karina. Booo! I want to keep the chef! He’s pretty!
After a commercial break and another of those spoofs, we have the first of our junior dancers. Wow are they cute, but this first pair is doomed. They were filmed at the beach at sunset, and we all know that doesn’t bode well for competitors here on DWTS. Mitchell and Jessica are dancing the cha cha tonight. These kids always amaze me with their poise and grace on a national stage like this. Kirill and Hannah are their competitors tonight, and they are dancing the samba. They looked a bit more polished than the first couple, but both did quite well. The kids are followed by the campaign ad for Cloris, which was actually pretty funny, and we get the decision after the break. It will be Kirill and Hannah moving on to the next phase in the competition. NeYo’s performance is after the kids’ decision, and it was enjoyable, just not what I want from the show. I tune in because I want to see mostly ballroom dance, not have a slick performance like this. I would have preferred that we see some of our own dancers out there, like we did when Usher was on last season.
Next week, we are going to see 4 new dance styles we’ve never seen before: hustle, salsa, jitterbug, and west coast swing! I’m excited, because I love all four styles. We follow this news with more campaigning by our contestants. Ok, maybe I have changed my mind, these are sort of funny. After that, we get the “thank God we’re safe” interviews, and then find out that Brooke and Derek, Cody and Julianne, Toni and Alec, Warren and Kym, and Maurice and Cheryl are all safe. That leaves Cloris and Corky, Rocco and Karina in the bottom two. Well, it’s nice to know I had the right two couples pegged on the radio this morning! After the break we learn that I was right about Rocco and Karina going home. This means we’re ‘treated’ to at least one more week with Cloris. Does anyone know where I left my fork? See you next week!
