To dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful, more powerful.. This is power, it is glory on earth and it is yours for the taking.

I would like everyone to share their favorite contemporary songs for each style of dance. While I love Frank Sinatra and Tito Puente, there are so many more contemporary songs for smooth/latin that we can also connect to. Let's share them.

Here are some outstanding rumbas that get overlooked by everyone. Why? because these are jazz artists, not many folks consider them to be very inclined to latin ballroom dance specific rhythms. Most of these are international rumba rhythms. Piano i…

My name is Laura aka Pooky and I am from NY. I have been watching DWTS since Season 1. It truly inspired me to finally take ballroom/latin classes which is something I wanted to do since I was a child. Growing up, we didn't have the money for lessons so I didn't get to take any until a year or two ago . This still breaks my heart because I think that had I started at an earlier age, I would have been good enough to make a career out of it. Once I am able to find a new job, I hope to be able to get back to taking lessons. I never felt so alive as I did each day I showed up at the studio. It is my dream to get good enough to at least compete at one amateur competition and hopefully win. I am glad there are websites like this to connect people with similar passions. Big thanks to Tony, Elena and Maks for bringing their wonderful and exciting world to us and inspiring us to follow our dreams.

My 2 cents

Hey everyone!

I usually don't write blogs but after last night's result show, I feel the need to vent a bit. Ok so here goes......last night's DWTS outcome is complete and utter nonsense. In a way this show has become a ridiculous popularity contest which is fueled in a sense by at least one judge's apparent favoritism for certain contestents which is not necessarily based on their talent. Let's be real here.....if Sabrina was still in the competition and continued to perform at the le

HI! How are things going with you? Great I hope! I have you seen the cool free dance lesson here on BDC? It's the Salsa!!! Just like the food, Salsa a mish-mash of different flavors and cultures. The result? One of the hottest dances around, with a spicy taste all its own.

Influenced by Caribbean favorites like the Mambo, Rumba and Cha-Cha, the Salsa is characterized by subtle, romantic movements with impromptu flourishes. And with Salsa lessons from Ballroom Dance Channel, it’s even easy to learn.

Have fun!!!

Hi Pooky!!!!

I always smile when I say your funny nickname. LOL! Did I ever tell you what your nickname means where I'm from. hehehe

Anyways, are you ready for the new season of DWTS! They announced the new celebrity dancers today and I already have my favorite picks. Of course if they can't dance then I'm gana drop them real quick. hahaha.

I can't wait for the show to start. I'm really looking forward to seeing the great dancing that they come up with.

Anyways, miss chatting with you but hope to talk to you soon.

Stay Up!

Hi Laura,

It was so much fun seeing 'Pooky' at chat!!! It has been way too long. We've been moving and I'm one exhausted puppy!! Hopefully this is our last move but it has just undone me and I don't want to do this again. BUT...........just went to a cocktail party this evening and met a bunch of our new neighbors and all is well!! :) :) :) Looking forward for good times in the old town tonight and forever!! :) :)

So good to see your name. Hope all is well with you. I remember some discontent with the forum and would be happy to talk to you about that privately!!

Hugs,
Elaine
