I would like everyone to share their favorite contemporary songs for each style of dance. While I love Frank Sinatra and Tito Puente, there are so many more contemporary songs for smooth/latin that we can also connect to. Let's share them.

Musical is an intregal part of the dance so each song should be carefully selected in order for that individual to truly connect resulting in their best possible perrformance. Through shows like DWTS and SYTYCD, we are finally hearing more contemporary songs being used in Ballroom Dancing. While the classics are wonderful and I mean no disrespect to them, we need to bridge the gap a bit and include music that younger generations can connect to. That's why I feel this group needed to be created. Thank you for joining!

Comment by Michelle on May 5, 2009 at 4:22am: I would like to see/hear someone dance to a song from my favorite group Apocalyptica...they are classically trained cellist from Helsinki Finland...they play mostly Heavy Metal...but they also play some of the most amazingly beautiful symphonic music as well...One of the songs I think would be good is 'Kellot' and the dance maybe the Pasa Doble...Just a thought.
