Welcome Home : Ballroom Dance Channel's BDC Social

Well I am about to start dance lessons, which I have wanted for the past 6 months, but I am especially worried about one thing- the shoes. I know there are tons of ballroom shoe makers, but are they worth the money? Should I get a pair just for dancing, or is it easier just to go and pick up a pair of Calvin Kleins or Alex Maries on sale at Dillard's? If there is a difference in flexibility or something then I totally understand and will find a special pair, but I really am clueless. And if I do need to buy special ones, what brands would you suggest that are good, but not overly pricey? Thanks for the help!

Hey Rayne,

Capezio makes really good shoes for dancing. Make sure you get the ones that have the lower heels. I know that it looks ultra sexy to get the high ones, but they are not as practical for learning. They are about $35 and are my favorites-I have three pairs :). You should check the stores in your area that carry them rather than ordering online. They frequently run smaller than regular shoes. Definitely go into your lessons with a good pair of shoes. They are really important! I hope this helps you out. Good luck with your dancing shoes.

I would say get a pair of dance shoes. Street shoes aren't the best when it comes to gliding and spinning. But I will say my favorite pair of dance shores are a pair of heals I got from Payless Shoe Sources for under $12. what ever you choose, just make sure you are comfortable in them. Nothing worse than dancing with shoes that don't fit properly or that hurt. Check with your studio, some have shoes for purchase.

Well i would for sure say don't go buy some at dillards you need some made for dancing. They are more flexible and there specially made for dancing. I would also suggest Capezio. Good luck!!

Hi,

I know this might be a bit belated but we have just joined the network and I would encourage you to check out our shoes at www.ballroomdancewear.us. Though we specialize in wholesale and group orders we can also do custom designs. Our shoes are excellent quality and craftsmanship, though you might pay a bit more for them at retail they are totally worth the cost. Let me know if you have any questions, sales@ballroomdancewear.us
